Hey there Addie, I checked your work and It's really lovely, love that korra piece, keep going strong you are doing so good. First of all you should probably tell your sister that she has great taste, her character looks amazing, I had a similar character for my first DnD campaign, named Erde Luden, she was a bard and just a bit more tanned, I'm curious to know your sister's character class :D Now on to the critique itself (sorry I love writting too much unnecessary stuff) the main issue here is that you went way too high on your overall values, once you see the before and after you'll notice right away. Yes your rendering is a bit subtle, the high values being the main reason, you are trapped into a "Low contrast & High value" metaphorical prison. Whenever you are starting to paint your drawing, you might benefit a lot from separating light from shadow, making sure that theres enough contrast between the two, and that the shadows help adding volume to your drawing (think about planes of the head, of the hair, nose, etc...) I didn't change the rendering of the golden accessories cause that might have been a lot of work for me haha (sry) but I added how it might look on the top left, and also added to the right a small workflow to work on your rendering, it works for hair, skin, gold, anything, Studying and noticing how values change on a reference will help you with that. Also, the structure of the face was a bit off here, specially on the jaw (it didn't follow the established perspective) and the foreshortening of the left side (her right side) of the cranium. In order to know where to put the shadows and highlights of the face, knowing the structure and planes is essential, and doing reference studies helps a lot with all of that. Just remember, you don't need to go 100% accurate, just believable. I changed the direction of the loose hair strand cause of gravity reasons (but forgot to add the cast shadow it would project onto the face haha), anyways, your drawing overall looks quite nice and was easy to adjust thankfully. Keep up the good work, you doing amazing, hope this helped. | Artwod Feedback
