You went for soft shading - which is absolutely fine - but I feel like the drawing style itself is more suited for cell shading (look it up). The rendering itself looks off because 1. While you respect the light source for the most part, the values themself do not reflect intensity of the light. When the light is strong it drops darker shadows, so his shoulder and body should shaded in darker tones. I would also expect a bit more environmental light (see blueish tone in the shadow areas). 2. Shadows and highlights are not just darker/lighter tone of the same color. Try to change hue a little bit as well when picking a color for a shadow, e.g. dark reddish brown instead of dark brown. 3. You shaded everything with air brush - shadows however can have hard edges. Try to incorporate hard round brush if you are going for soft shading. A and B show examples of how to shade forms in soft style using airbrush and hard round brush. Try to observe real life objects and what sort of shadows they drop based on light.
