Hey! Cool portrait! You’re definitely trying to create hard and soft edges and use transitional colors. Now you need to focus more on refining those edges (did you use a reference? If not, I highly recommend it)—the whole thing still looks a bit flat. The shadows all have very similar values, and in some places, light is appearing where it shouldn’t (unless there’s a strong light source from the other side. For example, the light here is coming from the top right, but the back of the head on the left is just as bright as the right side—bounce light or a strong light source from the left would change that, but then you’d have to apply that to everything). I find it helpful to posterize the image—that usually shows whether it has clearly distinguishable values. In terms of brushstrokes, it still has a very ā€œdigital feelā€ā€”it’s very soft and the strokes are very uniform. For that, I like to use textured brushes or simply add lots of brushstrokes. Personally, I’d add a little more color variation (I like to go for more saturated yellowish tones—visually, though it’s actually red—in the dark areas under neutral light, and desaturated pink tones in the highlights, but that’s a matter of taste). Maybe this helps you a little :) | Artwod Feedback
